Strange Sports
Most of you have heard of Baseball, Football, Basketball and the different sports that are featured in worldwide competitions such as the winter and summer Olympics.
This winter the Children’s Discovery Portal will be introducing you to sports that are a little more unusual. How about a sport where you chase a piece of cheese down a hill? Or a game played on elephants? Can you even imagine what the sport of Zorbing might involve? Here’s a hint: Zorbonauts are enclosed in large inflatable balls made of clear plastic. These are all real sports, and they’re all really strange!
Check out the What’s Up section on the home page every week to learn more about Bossaball, Jousting, Jai Alai, and lots more. We’ll be featuring a new strange sport every week.
Test your knowledge and compare notes with other kids about more regular sports on the Speak Out page. Come to the Chat and tell us about your favourite sports or sports you’d like to try. And be sure to follow the link to the Digital Library to explore what resources the Library has available for you. For example, did you know that you can check out ‘Sports Illustrated for Kids’ through the E-Magazines link?
