Your Ultimate Dream Job

What do you want to be when you grow up?

Don’t spend even one minute thinking about how to answer that question! Instead, here’s what we want to know: How well do you know yourself? What do you like to do in your spare time? Do you know what your skills are, what you’re good at? Have you figured out what’s most important to you and what kind of things make you happy? Are there things about yourself that you’d like to improve? Is there anything you’ve never experienced but would like to try?

A lot of grownups end up doing jobs they don’t like. Why? Maybe because when they were your age they didn’t spend enough time thinking about questions like these.

So that’s it! Our topic this spring is Your Ultimate Dream Job but your real assignment is to start getting to know yourself. Sound boring? Don’t worry, it won’t be – because it’s all about YOU.

This spring the ‘Speak Out’ page will feature questions and polls about your likes, dislikes, skills, abilities, talents, hopes and dreams for the future. Answer these and then discuss them with your family, teachers and friends at school – just for fun.

The ‘What’s Up?’ section on the Home page will help you think about school, chores and jobs in different ways. Some work we do because we have to, and some we do because we want to. Sometimes we work for free, and sometimes we earn money. Either way, we also usually gain new skills and experience. It’s all important, and whether it’s fun usually depends on your attitude. ‘What’s Up?’ will tell you why.

‘Looks @ Books’ and ‘Suggested Links’ will point you to resources and books available. Find out more about jobs you’ve never heard of or even imagined! There are hundreds of thousands of different kinds of jobs, combining different skills and abilities. The perfect job for you is out there somewhere, so start looking!
